Nice, solid entry for this series

Dept. S episodes vary a lot in quality. Our three leads are always very watchable and good, but it's the stories they are given that are so uneven in quality. Thus, there are outstanding shows (Six Days; Pied Piper; Aircraft is Empty) and also ones that have tired-seeming plots (Charlie Crippen; New Face). This episode falls more in the middle. Good, but not one of the very best. The plot has some originality. Wyngarde does not chew the scenery in this one (though some may like that!). Rosemary Nicols looks smashing as usual, and loaded with charm. Joel Fabiani is very reliable in the role. Caroline Blakiston, a guest star, is excellent, in addition to looking stunning. An aspect of this series I've noticed--there's never any gunplay by our leads. Fisticuffs sometimes, but no shooting. If you like other episodes, you will probably enjoy this one, too.
