Warning: Spoilers
Jim Freeman is a clown but loves to watch the flying acts in the circus. Joey sees Alex Conrad leaving the show. Alex used to be a great catcher in the flying acts. Joey would like to see Alex rejoin the circus but Alex blames himself for the death of Corky's parents. Joey says it wasn't Alex's fault, Corky's dad told Joey he had developed rheumatism in his hands and was keeping it a secret.

Jim is practicing to be a flyer but his wife is opposed because her brother ended up a cripple when he fell. Joey tries to convince Alex to help Jim but Alex refuses. Alex is working as a rigger for Zarno who knows who Alex is. Corky arranges for Alex to see Jim as he goes through his routine. Alex agrees to help Jim in his training. But Alex won't catch; he has lost all confidence in himself because of the death of the Falcons, Corky's parents.

When Zarno sees Alex helping he gets angry. Now Jim's wife Alice has joined her husband. Big Tim offers to give Jim and Alex a try out. Zarno tells Big Tim he's quitting, and when he sees Alex he tells him he killed the Falcons. Corky overhears and hates Alex. Joey tries to talk to Corky but Corky's not listening. Sebastian refuses to work with Jim claiming the kid has no talent. Corky asks Alex to catch for Jim because Jim is his friend.
