From reliving these episodes which I saw fifty years ago, I see the first season as rather vacuous. It isn't until we meet some of Bob's patients that things get rolling. This has another rather bland sitcom plot. Carol, the receptionist, has ben absent from the office, making for scheduling problems. It turns out she is having an affair with a married man and is all giddy and flighty. She seeks out advice from Bob. It is obvious that Bob is one of the most ineffectual counselors on the face of the earth. He is a master of tired cliches. Eventually, her new guy is invited to dinner at the Hartleys. The talk is unremarkable and the result cliched.
