Andrew Jarecki New York; 'All Good Things,' 'Capturing the Friedmans'I think my job usually is to be like a second instinct, brain, and conscience for the actors. I have to work at least as hard as they do, especially prior to and during rehearsal. I have to be able to come in and provide options. For example, in "All Good Things," there's a scene involving a disagreement between the characters, where one is telling another something we all suspected was true, but the scene was not working. So I suggested, "Let's try a 'What if?': What if it's not true, what if what he's saying is a lie?" It radically shifted the scene. Check out the second trailer for Sony's Burlesque musical drama/romance, starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Peter Gallagher, Alan Cumming with Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci. Steven Antin directs from his own screenplay, the film which opens on November 24th. The film is a huge step for Antin, with only a single directing credit to his name for the video release Glass House: The Good Mother. Check out the official site as well. The trailer can be viewed in standard as well as high definition. Ali (Christina Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to La. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner.

The movie seems to be getting a lot of attention because it marks the big screen acting debut of Christina Aguilera, but the cast also includes Cher, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Alan Cumming and Kristen Bell among others. The first full trailer has found its way online this week and it seems to be aiming high, although there isn't really much about it that stood out to me. Aguilera seems to do a decent job, I suppose, but the story seems pretty cliched and typical. Director Steven Antin has spent most of his career as an actor, getting his first big break in The Last American Virgin back in 1982. He also directed the Dtv flick Glass House: The Good Mother. Strangely, Diablo Cody...
