Wonderful Tale of a Classic Folklore in Brazil
GustavoBroda31 January 2020
Based on the singing of Elomar Figueira de Melo, Cantiga do Boi Encantado Aruá relates the story of a proud farmer whose power is challenged seven times by the extraordinary appearance of the BOI ARUÁ, the Mysterious Ox, until the final confrontation when he removes his masks and celebrates fraternally victory over yourself.

The feature film "Boi Aruá" matures the language developed by the artist duo, which brings together in the 1980s a small team of people interested in learning animation and with it creates the film that has become a reference in Brazilian animation due to the strength and pioneering spirit in the audiovisual as a representative of the sertanejo imaginary. At this moment, new works are in progress, affirming in the Brazilian animation cinema an authentic scratch that originates in the popular prints that illustrate the string literature.

I thought it was cool, the look is very rich, vibrant, colorful and psychedelic. Striking soundtrack with the characters' zoomorphic transmutations. Certainly for those who read the book the film gets even richer.
