This movie is probably for nostalgic people. Indeed it is a jump back in time that brings the art of CGI back to the first '80... and the art of good humor back to even before that.
A note of total disgust goes to the "grandma" character... What the hell was the director trying to achieve? This is even more disturbing than JarJar in episode one. A "Family only" character... one of those characters that makes EACH member of the family think that "someone else" will, in the end, like it while as a matter of fact nobody does. I want to hope that only the marketing behind the movie was glad that they made "the Granma" snowboarding around, you know, youngsters like snowboard so much. Almost as disturbing as Legolas grinding the stairs with a shield.
The movie also contains songs. This manages to add another thick layer of boredom to the whole thing since the songs are not really telling any part of the story (like it happens instead with the GREAT songs in "Emperor's new groove" or "The road to Eldorado") You can obviously reach the zenith of pain in the scene where the director tries to sell us the "Granma" with some rock-grunge-hiphop song, telling us that the "Granma is cool", no matter how disappointed you seem to be in front of this information.
There is no feeling behind this movie. It was made in order to "look" like one of the many animation movies around... and in order to "sound funny" like any of the Pixar movies... and it miserably failed in both attempts... basically because you can SEE there is nothing more behind the movie other than "the will of making an animated movie".
Some fun here and there... I suppose it was almost unintentional. Pity for the script that could have been "interesting". Go see it only if you're young and want to have a glimpse at what was CGI before '90.
