I may be way off base, here (it wouldn't be the first time), but FIGHT AMONG THE SUPERS has to be, if not the very FIRST, then certainly ONE of the very first STEAMPUNK movies. It's remarkably directed, with an extended encounter between the hero and a makeshift robot made from a teapot, a wooden bucket, two brooms and two garden utensils (think L. Frank Baum's Tick-Tock, from the OZ books). It's a truly remarkable sequence, and it's just one of the reasons I rate this one a solid ten. There's also Chiang Sheng and Lu Feng as a pair of deities who meddle in the affairs of a pair of restaurant workers (one of whom makes steampunk machinery). There are lots of acrobatics and some solid kung fu action, among other things. It's fun to see Lu Feng doing comedy, too: he was always my favorite villain in Chang Cheh movies; he always seemed to be thinking up some new kind of deviltry, even when he wasn't (he was one of the few actors who could just STAND there and give you the willies); the fact that he could back it all up with incredible physical prowess made it all even more impressive.
