Not as good as it should have been
zzmale19 March 2004
This fantasy is based on the folklore of the ethnic Chinese minority Zhuang residing in the southern and southern western part of China.

The movie paints a general idea of the story, but it is not as good as it should be. The reason is that Zhuang is an ethnic group without any written words, so history were told in the form of stories, just like any other cultures without written words. What is unique about the Zhuang was that most of the stories are not told in verbal form, but in the form of musical, and for the folklore in particular, the characters in the stories rarely had any verbal conversation, because they communicate with each other by singing.

This is the biggest drawback of this movie in that there is not any musical in this fantasy, everything is told in verbal form of communication, and although story is told exactly, the unique musical aspect is not shown.
