If you are looking for an in depth and realistic discussion of the original "Star Trek", this show is definitely not for you. Instead, it's a rather superficial 'hooray for us' sort of film...not bad for the average viewer but lacking depth.
Much of the film is made up of film and TV show clips...often thrown into the documentary somewhat haphazardly. In addition, various series regulars discuss a particular aspect of the show...and it does stand out because all of them are present. But it's highly sanitized and shows none of the simmering undercurrent behind the scenes. So, for example, you could only assume that George Takei and William Shatner are best friends and everything about the show was positive....a simplistic view to say the least. Overall, worth seeing...just don't expect any sort of controversy or behind the scenes dirt or drama.
