Isn't 'nutbag' another name for a scrotum?
BA_Harrison13 May 2008
In Nick Palumbo's debut movie Nutbag, a screwed-up serial killer at work in Las Vegas (Mack Hail) attempts to bore horror film viewers to death by delivering 80 minutes of badly written, introspective dialogue, only stopping to off chesty bimbos in spectacularly unconvincing fashion, or to pet his tarantula Heinrich.

Hail, an imposing, broad-shouldered figure with a mean glare and shaven head, certainly looks as though he is a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but he lacks the necessary acting chops to convincingly portray a multiple murderer, delivering his lines in a flat, monotonous manner that I imagine is meant to convey the emotionless state of the killer, but which, in reality, has the numbing effect of a heavy sedative.

Four years after he made Nutbag, director Palumbo gave the horror world Murder-Set-Pieces, another film about a crazed killer; that film succeeded by shocking viewers with an endless gallery of nasty OTT gore (provided by the talented Toe Tag FX team). Nutbug's kill scenes, however, are laughably amateurish, with several stabbings that seem to utilise a joke-shop knife (you know... the type that has a retractable blade), and a really bad throat slashing featuring a patently obvious prosthesis.

Admittedly, Nutbag isn't an entirely worthless experience (for blokes, at any rate) since it does feature an endless parade of skin from a series of hot, nekkid chicks. All I can say is that it's a good job for Palumbo that a city like Vegas has no shortage of big breasted strippers desperate to become famous, because without the gratuitous nudity, his film would be totally unwatchable.

Weak And Pointless Slasher...
EVOL66615 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Even with all the unethical and annoying spamming done on the IMDb horror board by Fright-Flix employees - I was still one of the few that admitted to liking Nick Palumbo's MURDER-SET-PIECES. Regardless of the "marketing techniques" of the Fright-Flix crew - M-S-P had several elements that I liked about it, even though as many others have (rightly) noted - the film is shallow, contains no memorable acting performances, and is not NEARLY as "disgusting" nor "groundbreaking" as the F-F advertisors would have you believe. Well, I can honestly say (with no malice) that NUTBAG does not. This is a weak film with horrible performances by all - and I would be willing to bet that all of the "10/10" ratings that you see on this film on IMDb are written by Fright-Flix employees. I refuse to believe that anyone could possibly view NUTBAG as a "perfect" film... On to the "plot" - a "psycho-killer" who talks to his pet spider kills hookers and strippers in Las Vegas. Pretty much the same plot as M-S-P, just done on a much cheaper budget - and with even WORSE actors...oh - and there's no spider in M-S-P... The only reason I don't give NUTBAG a lower rating, is because honestly - I have seen much worse. Given the rise in popularity of no-budget, shot-on-camcorder "extreme" horror films - there are many worse films available (watch anything by Andreas Schnaas if you don't believe me) - but I found almost nothing about NUTBAG redeeming. Mack Hail as the "killer" was wooden and un-menacing. The "storyline" was dull and hollow - giving no real explanation or "view" into the killer's mind - other than showing that his mom was killed by her black lover in front of young Nameless Killer when he was a boy - thus somehow spurning him on to kill a bunch of hookers...yeah - makes sense to me. Although he does kill one inter-racial couple which makes some sense given the background - but based on the bigoted undertones in both this film and M-S-P - I'm starting to believe that these are just "vehicles" for Palumbo to play-out his fantasies. Also - the gore FX in NUTBAG are weak and unconvincing. On the up-side - we have 2 vag-stabbing scenes and a good bit of tits-n-ass. I can't really recommend this one to anyone, unless you're really hard-up for a low-budget and pointless slasher film...3/10

Grass Ripping Serial Killer Rips Grass
paul-day-clone20 March 2015
Poor Serial Killer. His mom left the family. His dad beat him He watched his dad kill an unspecified woman (we even get to see a McCauly Caulkin impression!). All he wants to do is take care of his pet spider, quote Goodfellas and be racist and misogynistic. Is that so wroooooooong?

This is laughably incompetent on all levels. I'm not sure whose performance the other reviewers were watching but there is zero subtly in Mack Hall's performance. Or in the lines written for him. Or in the camera work. Anyone who thinks there's something deep or insightful going on to expose the mind of a serial killer has never watched...well...any other movie about a serial killer. Just hating "whores" isn't enough. Nor is having some high school dropout use the (misspelled) word "shan't).

It's kind of amusing but only to mock.

Why, Lord, Why?
artpf2 January 2012
Dreadful home made movie filmed early morning hours and late late evenings on th streets and back alleys of Las Vegas with a hand held video camera.

The victims are hookers.

Their bodies are hot.

Acting is not.

There is no story.

Just a bad acting doofus who kills hookers and delivers lines like "these hookers sure bleed a lot" and "death will be along longer than me." I think I counted 4 or five murders in the first 15 minutes. How he disposes of all these bodies or why there isn't a manhunt underway is never discussed.

Neither is the clean up.

Or why he talks to a spider.

Nothing makes sense and what's scary is many of these folks have been in other films, so they are getting work.

The first victim, however, isn't. By far, she has the most smoking body of all the hookers and was probably a stripper in Vegas. Today you'll find her back in Texas working for a auto dealer.

I also need to mention that the camera work is disturbing on a couple levels...it appears the movie was made in HD and it gives a very homemade feel. Not good.

But more disturbing is that the film is obviously made to avoid film permits. I wonder how all the pedestrians would feel if they knew their faces were showing up in this obambination.

the Slasher Film is....... BACK!!!!
the_blue_dot7 February 2005
Nick Palumbo's debut film NUTBAG provides a peek inside the world of an of a serial killer. The film basically just follows the "killer" around while documenting both his crimes and his thought process.

The "killer" whom is played by Mack Hail (whom is also the director of SWITCH KILLER) is an excellent character. Mack Hail totally brings this guy to life and deserves MUCH credit for his performance. He really keeps your attention at ALL times and hopefully we'll see him resume the role in the rumored NUTBAG 2.

NUTBAG is a loving tribute to films such as MANIAC (without coming off like some fan-boy tribute film) and I think it's an excellent debut for Mr. Palumbo. Their are some areas that are lacking (mainly some of the obvious filler) but ANYTIME Mack Hail is on screen it's great stuff. The dialogue is fantastic, the locations are great..... The actress's are beautiful.... The story is very cool and the directing is top notch... Miles ahead of most no budget underground films.

Anyway...... As mentioned, it's a very solid debut film for Nick Palumbo! He's a director who's looking to get horror BACK to what it once was and I think NUTBAG is an excellent 1st step towards accomplishing that goal. He did a LOT of things right in this film and casting was probably his BEST move as Mack Hail REALLY gets the job done as the KILLER! The character is a total psycho but ya still can't help but root for him!

The Slope Walker!
jake-17928 July 2003
This movie should have been called "NIGHT OF THE SLOPE WALKER." Mack Hail plays the SLOPE WALKER, and he is good at walking at a slope! Nobody walks at a slope like Mack Hail. If you notice when you watch this movie, Mack Hail is walking at a slope and that adds to the creepiness of his character. I really liked his friend, the spider. The Slope Walker confides all his secrets to the spider. That spider was a good actor! I liked the way he laid out his silk while the Slope Walker told him secrets. I have a friend who tells all his secrets to his pet cat, Charlie. He even has a picture of himself whispering in to Charlie's ear, and he put a little cartoon dialogue bubble with words in it.

The Slope Walker is nice to the spider, who survives the whole movie. But he is not nice to other people and to grass! He kills lots of people and when he gets mad, he throws himself on the ground and tears out the grass. That's pretty scary, to think somebody is walking around here in Vegas at a sloped angle and killing people. Now, when I walk around on the strip and everything, I always keep my eye out for whoever is not walking straight up and down. If people are walking tilted over at an angle, I am careful to avoid them. If they are crazy, I will avoid them like crazy! I don't want to get "sloped," if you know what I mean.

Slope for slope, this movie delivered the goods! I hope they make a sequal to this movie. They could call it, "THE SLOPES OF FIRE." Or maybe, they could combine Mack Hail's character with something like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and call it, "SLOPAZOIDS FROM THE DEEP." And if they could get Vin Diesel to co-star in it with Mack, they could call it, "THE SLOPEAROUND GUYS." That would be cool! Vin Diesel could walk at a slope! Or, they could put a sci-fi edge to the movie and call it, "THE SLOPE FROM OUTERSPACE." This movie concept has so many possibilities!

If you like movies about murders, people who get angry, naked women, spiders, knives, and slopes, then you will like this movie! All five of my thumbs are up!

an atrocious film. one of the very worst.
cla1dwa13 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
a truly pathetic film, nutbag supposedly takes us into the mind of a serial killer for ten days, but instead simply rehashes the same scenes almost without fail over and over again. the killings, almost all of the same type of girl, are very poor. we simply see the killer approach the victim, and then we see a bloody corpse. never actually the killing itself. the reason for this becomes abundently clear when the one special effect employed in the film, the cutting of a mans throat, is played out in a laughable excuse of a scene. for a film supposedly so disturbing, i defy anyone not to laugh out loud at how bad this part was.

but above all, even at 80 mins, its just terribly boring. the scene in which the killer, (played by mack hail with enthusiasm but fundamentally no talent) stalks and murders the girl in the park goes on forever, and we already feel as though we have seen the same scene many times before. because, in all honesty, we have. its simply repetition that kills the movie. the killings are the same, his needless rantings to himself about death are all the same, and his conversations with heinrich, his pet spider, are all the same. i'm being semi-serious when i say heinrich gave the best performance.

so, a total waste of time. appallingly made, incredibly dull, not even that violent, and certainly nowhere near 'so bad its good' status, nutbag exists only as a testament to the fact that anyone with a video camera can make a 'film.'

Not impressed!
antboyuk22 August 2004
A very poor film. Shot on what appears to have been a camcorder this cheap and nasty film claims to give you an insight into the mind of a serial killer. It doesn't. It shows you a man repeating the same dialogue to himself or his pet spider almost verbatim for just over an hour interspersed with some very shoddily produced murder scenes.

The script is dreadful - repetitive, clichéd and ill-conceived. The acting is atrocious, most of the supporting cast appear to have been plucked from "adult" movies and have been cast for their willingness to briefly remove their clothes rather than to read words out loud in the English language.

The special effects are cheap and unconvincing. The music is described as "haunting." I defy anyone to sit in a room for an hour with a synthesizer and not be able to come out with a film soundtrack that is better than this.

On the director's notes of the DVD version the director claims that this film was shot over 60 something days, it looks like it was shot over 60 something hours. Avoid!

This SHOULD be called "Colostomy Bag"...
camarossdriver9 October 2020
I'm a HUGE fan of slasher and disturbing movies, but this heap of crap isn't the LEAST BIT enjoyable. The acting is better at a kindergarten school play. SERIOUSLY! You can obviously tell this "movie" has a micro budget, and sometimes that is a GOOD thing for a slasher / horror film...NOT IN THIS CASE! "Murder Set Pieces" is almost "Citizen Kane" compared to this lame excuse for a "movie". I went into this flick expecting a LITTLE BIT more, but WOW...this is just a train wreck. It MAY have been a WEE bit better if the lead actor could ACT! Well...that's my rant. If you decide to watch it...more power to 'ya...but don't say I didn't warn you.

Hideous Serial Killer Flick....
bogeysliver6 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I found "Nutbag" to be the most pointless film in a vast collection of films what I have ever seen. It's unethical, and extremely boring. With no taste what so ever. I have seen this film once and I felt like taking an overdose after it. But this is only my view on it. And It does reflect that I Support the heavy cencorship the film has gained in the UK or it being banned. I don't believe in films should be banned or cut, well withlin legal reason. But we are all entitled to our point of view. I Do think some, takes some of these films far to serious. And Just Because one does not like it, it does not mean we should censor it and destroy other fans that might like it. As I am a slight gore fan myself, but nutbag just has nothing to offer except endless murders. I'm nearly impossible to shock, I think everyone has the right to watch what they want. No matter how violent or how much gore or even nudity. No body forces anyone to watch it and its there own fault if they get disturbed by some of these films.

Not a very good movie... Terribly boring... See 'Maniac' instead...
matrixj2313 January 2007
Let me preface this review by stating that I am much more forgiving than most reviewers. I have a high tolerance for trash, and I often find myself enjoying movies that have been poorly reviewed by most. That being said, I can say without reservation that this is one of the worst movies I have seen in quite awhile...

Lately I have been off on a tangent exploring the dark world of shot-on-video horror/exploitation films. In the last week I have seen quite a few ('Scrapbook', 'August Mordum's Underground', 'Murder-Set-Pieces (Director's Cut), 'Devil's Bloody Plaything'). Of all of the above mentioned movies (and others), this was by far the worst, and least entertaining of the lot...

Perhaps it was the unconvincing Mack Hail as the lead. He just didn't work for me. He appeared empty and vacant. He didn't have the fire and desire necessary to portray a believable on screen serial killer. This film seemed like a grade-Z, poorly acted remake of 'Maniac'. Mack Hail and Joe Spinell are not even in the same universe....

The killings did not really work for me either. The gore effects were decent, but there just wasn't any fire or emotion behind Mack Hail's murderings. He seemed to be going through the motions. There just wasn't very much emotion behind his physical actions...

In addition, there were some going-ons in this movie (not a film) that made absolutely no sense. For example, you see him approaching a very large African-American male and woman at the park. The camera cuts away, and then you see both of them bound and in the Nutbag's hotel room. OK, how did our serial killer manage to abduct a strong full-grown man and a woman by himself? This makes no sense at all as I do not recall Hail having any superhuman powers...

The voice-over internal dialogue provided by Hail got on my nerves early and often. It sounded as if he was reading (and not very well) from an angry 12 year old's diary. His readings contained zero emotion and not an inkling of believability. Perhaps this movie would've been better if these infernal narratives has been omitted...

All in all, there is no way I can recommend this movie. The most important criteria I consider when offering a recommendation is whether or not I was entertained. In the case of 'Nutbag' I was most definitely not entertained. It was quite possibly the most boring slasher movie I have ever witnessed. I can think of many other serial killer films (yes, actual films) that are much better. Off the top of my head,'Maniac', 'Schramm', 'Man Bites Dog', and 'Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer'). Hell, even 'New York Ripper'was better than this tripe. Do yourself a favor and seek out another DVD to fulfill your cinematic bloodlust. If curiosity compels you to see this little mess, please rent before you buy...

A Real Insight Into a Killers Mind.
Texas-Chainsaw-Massacre20 January 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Nutbag is one hell of a slasher flick! "The Killer" is played by Mack Hail, and he is very impressive, it is just like watching a real killer who has recorded his events on a camcorder. This killer, stalks and kills innocent women at random and in a brutal fashion, he chants to himself while in his house, and rampages through it! The music score is excellent and there is piles of gore too, more than enough to keep the gore hound happy. So, you were thinking about getting Henry: Portrait Of a Serial Killer instead?? Bad choice! Nutbag is 10 times better than Henry, overall Henry, in my opinion does not even compare. I mean it! this is the only serial killer flick you'll need!. People often wonder why at the point in the film, why does he rampage through it, in slow motion. Well, I think I know. The killer has a hatred for "wh***s" and his pictures of naked women on his room walls, notice carefully as he runs up and down, he is looking at the pictures! I think this scene is showing has rage and his anger for them. Overall 10/10, I can't say I have seen a more impressive low budget killer flick ever, Nick Palumbo I salute you! NC-17: Graphic Violence, Explicit Sexual Images and Very Strong Language. Over 18's only.

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film and personally appreciated it's take. though not great, it was worth watching. I think any hardcore horror fan will dig its respect to old school horror. Cast wise, Mack Hail I thought did a pretty damn good job portraying a serial killer that was interesting and different. There's this scene in the film where he's pacing back-and-forth in his little apartment and the dude starts doing some like, primitive whacked out thing with his head! I'd had also seen his film "switch killer" (director) witch I thought was cool. good film by Palumbo the director showcasing some pretty hot girls. I mean it's kinda of raw, but I think that's part of it's charm. and I now am a Mack Hail fan in anything he does. If you've seen films like "Carnage road" you'll know what I mean. I thought the movie bit, but mack was hilarious. I recommend "nutbag for any hardcore horror fan.

Debut of Murder Set Pieces director
daniel-mannouch19 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Taking a decent amount of inspiration from Bill Lustig's Maniac, Nutbag is comprised of rambling monologues, brutal violence, awkward moments of titillation and a lot of B-Roll of the Las Vegas strip.

The lead performance by Mack Hall is enjoyably demented thankfully, since it's the crux of the Nutbag. His character might be a tired amalgamation of several infamous serial killers, but Hall believes in the character and that's what makes the killer engaging and therefore as well the film that centres itself around him.

I wish there was more to say about Nutbag, but it really is that simple of a film. The serial killer movie can be described as the slasher film without suspense and Nutbag typifies that. Some might find this direct approach to the body count film refreshing and to the point, others might find it tedious and repetitive. What i got from Nutbag was an art house character piece moulded with the material elements of a shot on video slasher. It's full of angst, yet focused in it's storytelling. A good film, but not really all that entertaining for me.

In conclusion. Meh to Nutbag. I could take it or leave it really. Nick Palumbo delivers a straightforward affair that is no frills and all spills. I would definitely recommend this to fans of serial killer films and shot on video films. Everyone else? Well, it's not really all that disturbing and i could a few worse ways to spend eighty minutes.

Horrible, boring and disturbing
DJAkin31 July 2002
I made the mistake of watching this at a friend's apt. His wife saw us watching it and therefore had a huge fight with my friend. This movie is about a wierdo in Vegas who wants to kill people for no reason. He hangs out at graveyards and gets mad when he sees people having a good time. He gets so mad that he acts out his rage by pulling grass. He always talks to himself and at one point he confides all his secrets to a stupid spider. There are many rape scenes and lots of nudity. The killer walks around vegas and just get's more and more upset. A majority of this movie was just of him talking. It was all shot on a cheap video camera. Worst movie I have ever seen.

Ambitious, yet clumsy SOV slasher flick
totenrune114 March 2017
Ambitious, yet clumsy SOV slasher flick that's left me quite on the fence. While the inspiration was definitely there, there's a lot of filler material in both dialogue and the film itself that does make this an endurance test to sit through. Too many long winded shots of barren streets, cemeteries and so on, and a particular mention goes to the ludicrous grass ripping scene.

The chosen cast were not too bad, Mack Hail does a decent enough job considering the goofy script written for him, and the copious amount of female victims offed by his character are a step above the girls usually "acting" in these kinds of films. Half of the killings seemed pointless, just there for shock value (as was the overuse of racial and misogynistic slurs) and didn't really build any kind of foreboding atmosphere that could've been achieved with some extra time and effort.

Perhaps enjoyable if lazy zero budget shot-on-video films are your thing. If you're looking for tension building, captivating horror look elsewhere.

Nutbag, a disturbing portrait of a madman.
totw0078 September 2005
Nutbag is a peek into the inner torment of a madman. A nutbag as played by Mack Hail. Women reject him or ignore him totally. Our Nutbag is unable to form close emotional connections with those around him. His only friend is a tarantula named Heinrich. His room is filled with pornographic images and horror posters and figures. This isolating and claustrophobic environment breeds nothing but frustration, anger, and despair. The Nutbag develops a bloodlust that is only satiated by the murder of delicious hookers played by the likes of porn's Davia Ardell. Renee Sloan is a beautiful neighbor who does not suspect the Nutbag beside her. Fright Flix and Nick Palumbo's initial film-making effort is only a taste of the future as we now have experienced it in Murder-Set-Pieces.

Early version of "Murder-Set-Pieces"
DVD_Connoisseur30 December 2006
I viewed Nick Palumbo's "Nutbag" around 12 months after the much maligned "Murder-Set-Pieces". As a result, my appreciation of "Nutbag" is perhaps not as great as it would have been had I watched the two films the other way 'round.

"Nutbag" is in many ways a prototype of the excellent "Murder-Set-Pieces". Shot on a zero budget with video, "Nutbag" lacks the visual flair and pace of its successor, not to mention the audacious effects by the Toe Tag crew. This is not to say "Nutbag" is a bad film, that simply isn't the case. It's just missing the "x" factor that makes "M-S-P" such a powerful and taboo-shattering experience.

What "Nutbag" has going for it are some simple but impressive scenes, a riveting and convincing portrayal of the killer and a decent score.

Mack Hail is excellent as the lead role. His physical presence and self-assured movements are chilling on screen - this is a man who is believable as a cold-blooded killer. Hail portrays the anguish of his character brilliantly. In a scene where he starts to lose it within the claustrophobic quarters of his rented accommodation, you can see the character's sanity slipping. His monologues (where he talks to his spider, Heinrich) reveal an insight into how the Killer has turned out the way he has.

As with "M-S-P", Palumbo's film contains a cast of lovely actresses. He's also able to extract from some of his cast terrific and terrifying performances. There are members of the cast who truly give 100% here and it's not surprising that some wish to remain nameless. There is a real sense of vulnerability and gritty peril in this film.

One thing that interested me was the references to other movies in this film. Among the pornography adorning his walls, The Killer has memorabilia from "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "The Burning" and "Psycho" is his home. Although not inspired by such characters, it's a sign that perhaps he uses them to justify his actions.

While not a masterpiece by any means, "Nutbag" shows that Nick Palumbo is a talented director. Only the budget lets him down in this film.

Worthy of a rental, "Nutbag" won't be to everybody's taste. It's a relatively short film and is quite episodic in nature. For those with an interest in zero-budget film-making, this is an interesting film and one that rises above its limitations.

Savage Horror film
dlpvp27 February 2005
"Nutbag" was quite a ride. I was shocked at the level of grue and violence in a shot-on-video film. This sort of plays out like a genuine snuff film. At times, I thought it was. Very graphic, brutal and offensive. If this is what the director wanted to achieve, he did it in spades. I read this film cost just $50,000 dollars to make. Great job for so little money. This is probably the sickest movie ever shot on digital video. Nice photography and music, but I wish they had shot on at least 16mm film. I really hate video. It's a good thing this was shot like a snuff tape. It was shot in Las Vegas, and it was very cool to see these super hot girls totally naked. This movie makes you feel sorry for the killer (he's un-named. I'm sure that in itself will elicit controversy. Serial killers are a tough breed to figure out, and I don't think anyone will. This movie shows you what they really do. If you want to see it, that's fine. Just don't expect to see police save the day. For people over 18 only.

for true underground horror fans only!

Warning: Spoilers
Check out my video review on my horror website at Krusher's House Of Horrors. www.krushershouseofhorrors.com

I enjoyed the movie. You have to go in realizing that it's a micro- budget, shot on video film, and don't expect a work of art. But with that said, for people like me that like to make their own horror movies, I always dig seeing results when people with no money put in the extra time and effort to actually finish and get something released out there to the masses. Like the August Underground series, you can't walk into a Best Buy or big chain store and pick up a movie like this; you have to see it out. But it's a guilty pleasure as long as you know what you're getting into before you watch it.

Low budget serial killer fun. Warning: Spoilers
Nutbag is the story of a man who murders, stalks and tortures prostitutes, from the Director of Murder Set Pieces - Nick Palumbo. Inbetween that, he likes to have little chats with his spider, and express his hatred for much of the outside world which he would like to see dead. Yes, Nutbag has a very strong sense of 'hate' throughout, and you can get the feeling of 'anger' from the serial killer throughout the movie. It's a very angry, unsettled movie from the start. If you've seen Murder Set Pieces then you can expect much of the same stuff here, only in a very low budget form, with no actual rape on screen, though there's enough sadistic elements to keep gore fans happy here, lots of naked women throughout getting stabbed in some very sadistic ways... (excluding naked women covered in blood; I refuse to accept scenes like these as gore). The gore effects when there is any, is pretty realistic and not a bad job for a low budget direct-to-DVD digital camera movie. The guy who plays the serial killer, (Mack Hail) does a very good job at hand. His acting for the most part is pretty convincing, albeit one scene where he tortures a girl strapped & tied down to a bed. With exception to that scene, at some points in the movie, you'd wonder if he is really acting, or... had he really flipped a nut - just joking! His acting is really good though. The musical score to Nutbag is fantastic, and really brings this little low budget flick to life. I think without the score that it has, Nutbag would not be half as good as it is. Overall? If you're into low budget serial killer flicks, and fancy something a little more extreme than the norm, then you should give Nutbag a chance. Just remember the movie has a dreaded sense of anger throughout it. It cannot be described as in anyway a 'happy' movie or a movie you'd watch with your family, or girlfriend (Unless you want to be single again).

You also may want to borrow a copy before actually buying it, it won't be to everyone's taste. The director's cut DVD from FlightFlix is the only uncut version I am aware of at this time. I believe it is now OOP and very rare so I'm lucky to have it, but if you snoop around you might just find it. There's a UK DVD, but you might as well forget watching the feature if you're judging it from having watched the UK version. 7 minutes has been deleted which results in nearly all the violence removed, except the couple tied to the chair scene. The UK DVD is therefore rendered pretty pointless.

I've given it 7 - reasonable for low budget, the acting from the lead character was pretty solid for the most part, and the musical score gets top marks.
