Crappy porn, but hooray for the FLESH GORDON gals
lor_11 July 2011
Though forever in the history books via FLESH GORDON, Nora Wieternik and Suzanne Fields starred in several XXX films together, much to the delight of the fans. None of them were great, but certainly masturbation fodder, e.g., OH!...MISS BODIE and VERA, VERA. SPACED OUT, its title evidently drawing upon the movie's drug theme, was resurrected on Vol. 126 of Something Weird Video's Dragon Art Theatre series.

Very simply and cheaply executed, story concerns winsome Cleo (Fields) as a young woman supporting her boy friend Jamie (Gerard Broulard) and his drug habit.

Her pusher, an unknown porn performer notable for his greased-down "helmet" of a hairdo (which doesn't get mussed a bit regardless of how hot & heavy the sex gets), takes out her cash shortfall in trade, getting well & truly humped by Fields for the equivalent of $15 or $20 a pop.

The anonymous filmmakers put almost no effort into the production, which consists mainly of helmet-head talking tough when the humping dies down. Nora is quite diverting in a threesome with Broulard and a very young-looking guy, included for diversity as well as making Gerard as Jamie even more unsympathetic as he cheats on the divine Fields. I've seen Broulard mainly in soft-core assignments, notably as the lucky guy in the all-star BREAST ORGY pair of classic loops, but he's solid delivering the money shots here.

I won't spoil the finale, but typical of lowest-grade story porn, it is a stupid twist, tossed in to insult the viewer. A useful master's thesis could be written, after analyzing several hundred of these early 1-day wonders, to pick apart how the filmmakers' frustrations (at having to toil at such a lowly level of the entertainment industry) surfaced in repeated and so thinly veiled examples of lashing out at the lonely patrons who paid for their livelihood.

Music track stinks, with unimaginative use (for the umpteenth time) of Muzak versions of "Aquarius", "Galveston" and "Games People Play" plus annoying dollops of the "Hawaii Five-O" theme song. This being an early porn feature, the helmet-head and Fields scream a lot about him sodomizing her, but it's left entirely to the viewer's imagination, depicted in fake soft-core shots & angles.
