A Dutch film to be proud of

Well this movie again proves that we in the Netherlands have a few very good actors and produce really good movies. This telemovie is from 2000 and I have to say I am ashamed I didn't know it already.

Like the description says the movie is about an boy who is Jehova's witness. but he is this more because its everything he knows he grew up with it, meanwhile he is 17 years old and is discovering life. he smokes(what is forbidden) and found a girl he loves.

This real story is based on the autobiographic book of Paulo van Vliet. When his hormones come in to play he knows sex before marriage isn't allowed and has problems keeping his 2 lives(that of an Jehovah's's witness and that of a teenage boy apart.

This movie can only be described as high quality dutch drama and ones again proves Egbert Jan Weber is 1 of the best actors our country has.

powerful drama

This was a very strong and touching movie: an intelligent and realistic script, good camera-work and, not in the least, terrific actors. It were especially the three young actors who convinced me with their performances! This picture certainly gives us something to think about! I now know much more about the Jehova-religion (but I can't say this movie made me understand it). Congratulations to the film-makers for their nice job on a risky theme!
