Khol De Meri Jubaan review :

Dada Kondke ruled Marathi cinema from '70s till the early '90s. Every film of his would enjoy a jubilee run in theatres, particularly Kohinoor at Dadar and Bharatmata Cinema at Lalbaug. The comic actor, known for his double entendre dialogues, tried his hand at Hindi cinema but attained lukewarm success with Tere Mere Beech Mein (1984) and Andheri Raat Mein Diya Tere Haath Mein (1986). Most of his Hindi films were remakes of his Marathi blockbusters but something was lost in the translation.

Khol De Meri Jubaan was Dada's last Hindi endeavor and a remake of his Marathi superhit Muka Ghya Muka (1987). It had Bandini Mishra as his heroine and Mehmood playing her dad who dislikes the mute simpleton Kondke. Filled with his trademark humour, the film was appreciated in Northen interiors but couldn't replicate the success of the Marathi original. This is one of the few Hindi films of Bandini Mishra as the main lead but its commercial failure sealed her Bollywood career.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
