Fun For What It Is

Disco Lady (1978)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

It's New Years Eve and all of the cool people are heading to the Disco Lady club where there is plenty of alcohol, sex and revenge.

Bob Chinn's DISCO LADY isn't the greatest adult movie that you're ever going to watch but it's certainly entertaining enough to where you should be able to have a good time with it. A lot of familiar faces show up throughout the film including Ric Lutze who has a couple scenes with Robin Savage.

There's really no plot to this film as we simply get a variety of people showing up at the club and having sex. The sex scenes are all well-filmed for the most part and at just 58-minutes the movie is pretty much over as quickly as it started. I won't reveal the ending but it's an interesting one and not one you'll see coming.

For me, the biggest catch here is seeing Rene Bond in what was probably her last filmed sequence. TEENAGE FANTASIES II was released three years after this one but I'm guessing her scenes for that were filmed much earlier. Bond doesn't get a credit here or does she get any dialogue, appear naked or have a sex scene. Instead she's just one of the ladies out on the floor dancing.

Getting it on at the disco

Warning: Spoilers
An assortment of folks get together at the Disco Lady Club on New Year's Eve. Director Bob Chinn nicely captures an engaging easy'n'breezy laid-back 70's mood as well as keeps the slight, but still enjoyable story moving along at a quick pace. The sex scenes are really hot and explicit, with a couple of tawdry bathroom carnal encounters rating as definite arousing highlights. This film further benefits from the welcome presence of several tasty babes: Luscious blonde Rhonda Jo Petty in her adult movie debut, slinky Robin Savage, slender brunette Ming Jade, and fetching Tiffany Ladd.

Moreover, Mike Ranger impresses as the macho Tony, Ric Lutz contributes an amusing turn as crude jerk Rick, and Ken Scudder has fun as the groovy club emcee. It's also a treat to see super cutie Rene Bond shakin' her stuff on the dance floor. The wacky from out of left field ending is a total doozy. The pulsating disco music hits the right-on funky-throbbing spot. A worthwhile 70's hardcore flick.
