A diamond in the rough world of indies.
artie-1721 September 2001
I was fortunate enough to catch this amazing drama at the Breckenridge Film Festival in Colorado. The director should be commended for creating amazing production value on what was probably a meager budget. The acting was extremely strong by a relatively unknown but supremely talented cast. Director Mark Wilkinson immediately separates himself from the pack of indie directors by telling a complex story in a very simple, stylistic fashion. Dischord is the kind of movie where you know you've just seen something incredible...but it really hits you the next day...and the next.

Impressive for budget - SPOILERS

On the whole, Dischord was impressive; ESPECIALLY for the budget (I believe I read it was something like $250,000). I enjoyed the story, the pace and how it develops. The dialogs are short, and could been stronger. It was good to see that the rebellious outsider didn't get the girl. Obviously, Gypsy was conflicted about her love to her husband, but it was refreshing to see that at the very least she was loyal.
