Despite the staff's efforts to celebrate, Finch has no intention of being recognized on Secretary's Day. And while Jack insists on a gift to mark the occasion, Finch does his best to make it clear that he doesn't consider himself a secretary. Meanwhile, Nina considers having plastic surgery to increase her breast size. As Jack is working on an important speech, Finch approaches him with some questions about his job. After Jack does little to ease his fears, Maya accuses her father of being insensitive as she tries to get him to understand Finch's concerns. Then, after an accidental fall lands him in the zoo's gorilla pit, Finch is suddenly a celebrity. Although Jack warns that it won't last, Finch tries to capitalize on his fame with an appearance on Jay Leno's television show.

So she can have a good photo for her company ID, Jack suggests that Maya arrange a session with Elliott. And while Elliott isn't keen on the idea, Jack orders him to agree. When Maya complains that she's never really taken a good picture, Elliott suggests it's because she's always sabotaging herself. So, when he asks her to imagine an erotic encounter with a handsome man, Maya relaxes enough to provide for some good shots. Meanwhile, Finch creates a new employee manual for the magazine. While pleased with the results, Maya decides the photo is too sexy and sends the wrong message. However, later that night, she dreams of being seduced by Elliott in his studio. And when seeing Elliott again jogs her memory of the dream, it doesn't take Finch long to realize what's happened and for Maya to warn him against breathing a word of it to anyone.

Her father's trip to China gives Maya her first chance to put the entire magazine together herself. And while proud of the changes she's made, when Jack returns, he points out a number of obvious problems that must be addressed before it can be sent to the printer. Then, as Jack is distributing the many gifts he bought for his staff, Maya is surprised to find she's getting a bag of strange candy he bought from a Chinese cab driver. Meanwhile, Nina is stunned to learn that the man she picked up in a nearby bar was really a pickpocket. After everyone samples the unusual candy, strange things begin to happen. Diagnosing their symptoms, Nina concludes that the Lemon Wacky Hello is some kind of hallucinogen.
