In theory, Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives should be a feast for the misery wraiths, faceless creatures who feed on pain and suffering. The ghostly protagonists, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri), are both teenagers bullied to death at the same British boarding school seven decades apart. They spend their time finding closure for other lost souls, like a pair of high schoolers cut down in their prime or a family slaughtered by an abusive patriarch. And they’re constantly on the run from the agents of Death, who would condemn Edwin to Hell on a technicality.
Yet the duo only ever encounter one such monster over the eight-episode first season, and perhaps that’s because despite its gloomy-sounding premise, Dead Boy Detectives is the furthest thing from dour. Dark, sure; bittersweet, sometimes. But it’s never less than entertaining, thanks to an appealingly quirky lead cast and a cheeky sense of humor.

"A Time For Killing" (also called "The Long Ride Home") isn't one of the best Westerns of all time, nor is it the most memorable, but the 1967 film still comes up in conversation thanks to its unique status as the very first movie role Harrison Ford was ever credited in. Ford played a young, sideburn-wearing Union soldier in the film, which followed the exploits of a group of captured Confederate soldiers on a mad dash for Mexico — none of whom realize the war has officially ended.
Aside from Ford's debut as Lieutenant Shaffer (for which he was credited as Harrison J. Ford), "A Time For Killing" is most noteworthy for its status as an abandoned Roger Corman flick. Corman started making "A Time For Killing" after already churning out cult classics like "A Bucket of Blood" and "The Little Shop of Horrors," but the low-budget filmmaker was replaced by "99 River Street...

It’s hard to overstate the late 1970s stardom of Suzanne Somers, who died on Oct. 15 in Palm Springs at 76. “Three’s Company” made Somers one of the most popular faces on TV, thanks to Chrissy Snow, the naive and charming character she played on the ABC sitcom. Somers fought for equal pay decades before it became a rallying cry for female actors — and she wound up getting fired for it. But Somers bounced back with TV series like “She’s the Sheriff” and “Step by Step,” and became a ubiquitous author and TV pitch woman. Perhaps even more importantly, she inspired a new generation of stars — including Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. Here, the ‘Masked Singer’ panelist, SiriusXM host and performer pays tribute to her mentor and longtime friend.
We all aspire to leave behind a positive impact, and Suzanne Somers achieved that and much more. In Hollywood, she shattered stereotypes, proving that ditsy...

Jennifer Lopez is being candid about the life her two children are experiencing.
“The Mother” actress shared during a recent interview that her and ex-husband Marc Anthony’s 15-year-old twins are seeing the effects of their parents’ celebrity.
“I think being the child of famous parents is not something many people can understand and I feel for [my kids] for that because they didn’t choose that,” the 53-year-old said during a roundtable talk with Audacy.
The “All My Love” songstress said that her children have recently begun sharing how they are perceived by others.
“They have just started letting me know how people treat them — so when they walk into the room, that’s what people are thinking about,” she said. “They’re not seeing them for who they are. And I think that has to be a really hard thing for them. So, I would love to be able to protect them from that.

The four panelists on “The Masked Singer” think they know the identities of the five secret celebrities hiding inside the California Roll costumes. Paul McCartney said one of his songs is a sequel to his Beatles classic, “Blackbird.” The singer-songwriter wrote “Jenny Wren” in 2005 and hoped it would positively impact people as “Blackbird” did 40 years before.

In The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul wrote that he pursued bird-watching as a child. Liverpool wasn’t as industrial as some might think. Paul lived close to the countryside. He loved that he could get out of the “workaday world” and experience nature.
He had a little pocket book, The Observer’s Book of Birds, and used to go on walks mostly for solitude and to be able to “meander and meditate.”
Paul wrote, “Pretty soon I started being able to recognize the birds, and the wren became probably my favorite bird – very little, very private, a very sweet little thing. You wouldn’t see it that often,...

Ireland made history on Tuesday by landing its first Oscar nomination in the international film category.
But the success of The Quiet Girl, the acclaimed Irish-language drama from writer-director Colm Bairéad that had become something of a dark awards season horse over the last couple of months, wasn’t the only reason for cheer from the Emerald Isle, which is celebrating its greatest ever haul of Academy Award nominations.
As expected, Martin McDonagh’s Irish period tragicomedy The Banshees of Inisherin led the charge. The film’s nine nominations — an Irish record that beats the seven each earned by last year’s Belfast and 1993’s In the Name of the Father — included its domination of the performance categories thanks to best supporting actor nods for both Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan, best supporting actress for Kerry Condon and, as had been widely presumed, a best actor nomination for Colin Farrell.

Although Jenny McCarthy first accused Steven Seagal of sexual misconduct back in 1998, amid new allegations against the actor, McCarthy, 45, detailed her casting couch experience with Seagal, 65, on SiriusXM.
“They sent me out for Under Siege 2,” McCarthy began, describing a 1995 film Seagal starred in, adding that she “purposefully wore a muumuu to the audition so the casting people would actually look at my face and watch my work.”
When it was finally her turn to audition, McCarthy said she noticed “there was no one else in the room,” but she convinced herself that wasn’t a problem because “he’s a celebrity.

Horror anthologies can be a tough feat to pull off, especially when you’re trying to pull together different filmmakers’ visions into one cohesive experience. That being said, Xx, which recently celebrated its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, succeeds in delivering four wildly distinct stories from several female directors, featuring the talents of Jovanka Vuckovic, Karyn Kusama, Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent), and Roxanne Benjamin. Beyond just its historical significance, Xx stands out as one of the more successful anthologies we’ve seen as of late, regardless of the gender of its directors.
Xx starts off with Vuckovic’s contribution, The Box, which is based on a story of the same name by acclaimed author Jack Ketchum. In the segment, we follow Susan (Natalie Brown), a mother who watches helplessly as an unknown force literally consumes her family after her son, Danny (Peter DaCunha), takes a peek inside...

One day after Charlie Sheen confirmed he has been living with HIV since 2011, Jenny McCarthy took to her SiriusXM radio show Dirty, Sexy, Funny to voice her opinion. She said actors must disclose health issues such as cold sores before taking a job, and wondered why that might not be the case for HIV.
"I don't even know how to feel about that. I'm like, 'Wait a second. If I have to be upfront a herpe, how could you not be upfront about HIV?" she questioned, suggesting there had been a double standard on their time together filming Two and a Half Men.

While there are many superhero movies listed below, it is great to see a bulk of non-Hollywood films appearing on the list as well. We set out to compile a list of 50 movies but as it were, we ended up with 5 ties, and so the list consists 55 films instead. Let us know if you think we missed something. Enjoy!

What would you do if life stood still? Now I’m not talking about the world continually frozen, like a projector stuck on one frame of film (maybe a better modern analogy would be a DVD unable to move past an image, perhaps with that annoying “buffer circle” spinning). I mean what if you, yourself, never changed and remained your current age forever. No wrinkles, no grey hairs, and no internal breakdowns (the plumbing works fine, muscles and joints in great shape). That’s been one of the major benefits of vampirism (like the eternal ten-year old Kirsten Dunst in Interview With The Vampire), a theme of fairy tales (Sleeping Beauty), and science fiction (The Man Who Cheated Death, the Cocoon flicks). Now comes a film that plays with that notion in a more modern, realistic fashion. Call it a modern romantic fable, or the ultimate May-December love story. Or...
