Four year-old Omar Mahfouz is found in his divorced ma Lisette van Swieten's home, skull smashed with a metallic object. Lazy Lisette has a history of unpunished abuse and dumps endless chores on Omar's sister Anne (7). Yet she points at the father, hard-working Egyptian immigrant Alheib Mahfouz. Like her boarder, psychology student Frederik Hoffman, she fakes an alibi. Grumpy neighbor Trudy de Winter couldn't stand the noise made by both hyperactive kids and owns a metallic walking cane. While most colleagues get all emotional and the commissioner forbids officially questioning Anne, Jurre also considers an accident.

De Cock and his team investigate the murder on the beautiful owner of a record label and event office for house-parties. 100,000 guilders earned from a house-party are missing, and the testimonies of suspects and witnesses alike are hampered by the fact that they were under the influence of alcohol or drugs around the time of the murder. To further complicate things, one of the suspects turns out to be under investigation of the Narcotics Service, who forbid De Cock to talk to him. Also, Den Koninghe has been retired and replaced with a slow new pathologist. De Cock fights to keep his good friend in the field.
