SINS OF DESIRE (1993 Video)

WARNING: Depictions of Sexual Assault (see below)

BASIC PLOT: This is a silly movie, sometimes hilarious, but entertaining in an accidental way. It's supposed to be about a psychotic couple who run a sex therapy clinic, you know an erotic thriller. It ends up being an unintentional comedy.

WHAT WORKS: *The scene with the delivery driver as sex therapy patient is hilarious! His reactions to the two beautiful girls climbing all over him is priceless!

*Jan-Michael Vincent gives a boffo performance of Warren Robillard, the strange, 'Members Only' wearing weirdo, who gets caught up with the Callisters.

*The cheesy music written and performed by Becky LeBeau is perfect for this indecorous film.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK: *The sex scene after the Callisters kill Robillard is hilarious and farcical. Their genitals never come close to touching, and the type of lingerie Jessica Callister (Delia Sheppard) has on would make sex impossible, or at least unpleasant. Also, the faces John Henry Richardson (Dr. Scott Callister) makes during this sex romp are comical!

*Why exactly does Kay (Tanya Roberts) fall into bed with Jessica (Delia Sheppard) at the clinic? Is it so Barry Mitchum (Nick Cassavetes) can get away? That's some diversion!!

TO RECOMMEND, OR NOT TO RECOMMEND, THAT IS THE QUESTION: *If you like movies that are so bad they're good, you'll like this. It has many campy and ridiculous scenes, that are entertaining. Also, if you're a fan of fake breasts, there's lots here for you to like.

CLOSING NOTES: *This does have a rape scene at the very beginning. It is disjointed and bizarre, but deserves a warning none the less.

*This is a Straight-to-Video movie, please keep that in mind before you watch\rate it. Straight-to-Video movies have a much lower budget, and so your expectations should be adjusted.

*I have no connection to the film, or production in ANY way. I am just an honest viewer, who wishes for more straight forward reviews. Hope I helped you out.

DRY FRUIT WITH TOO MANY SEEDS.

This movie should have been better, one memorable sex scene and that's it. 30 minutes into this tropical peanut I started having flashbacks of when Rodrigo tied me to an orange tree and made me sing "bar stools and baby's don't mix". I surely would have been a lot happier and not so loony if they would have at least put two more suger cubes in this cup of luke warm mocha. -*1/2 stars

I love Tanya Roberts

Why? I don't know. The debut of this movie. I seen it at least 3 times. There's little to say about this movie unless you are a fan of T/A. The women are gorgeous and a reminder of why the late 80's early 90's was a wonderful time for T/A movies. Gail Harris, Tanya Roberts, Becky LeBeau and Monique Parent are smoking. The plot don't think to hard. 😄😄 The finale for me is hilarious, it's unintentionally funny, better than expected. I would have loved if Gail and Tanya were given a long scene? If you are fan of T/A, movies you don't study the plot and you have time to kill in the late nights/early morning? This is the movie for you. I would be remiss if I didn't send a shout to Jay Richardson and Jan Michael Vincent. You can say what you want. When it comes to slimy perverts, few can play better. As for Jan? I see the Jan Michael Vincent of The Mechanic and wonder what happened?

Steamy Sex Thriller

I gave this movie a 10 on sex scenes alone. The unrated version is full of steamy love scenes and nudity and there's nothing wrong with that. Tanya Roberts plays Kay, the sister of a patient at a sex clinic owned by a sleazy married couple named Jessica and Scott Callister (played perfectly by Delia Sheppard and Jay Richardson). It seems there's something weird going on at their sex clinic and it involves a powerful drug and some doctors doing bad things to their patients while they are under the influence of the drugs. After Kay's sister commits suicide she joins forces with a handsome insurance investigator and they go undercover (if you know what I mean and I think you do) to solve the sex murder. They manage to fall in love in the process and have wild sex during a thunderstorm.(note to anyone: if you invite a handsome insurance investigator to stay the night at your house then that it a recipe for erotic disaster) This movie is great! It has lesbian sex scenes galore, kinky rough sex, Tanya Roberts and Nick Cassavettes who is now a director. It's backed by a great soundtrack by the lovely Becky Lebeau and the usual kick-butt directing of Jim (I'm in it for the ladies) Wynorsky. Check it out but make sure you get the unrated version.

When it comes to erotic thrillers I stop caring so much about production quality (although I appreciate it if it is present). The highlights on this one are Tanya Roberts and Delia Sheppard ('cause I love them both), and watching them together (and pretty close) justifies this feature a lot. Of course, this is a personal opinion.

Dark underside of therapy

Tanya Roberts stars in this erotic thriller in which she ends up teaming up with an insurance investigator (played by Nick Cassavetes) to go after a sex therapy clinic engaged in some foul play. The husband and wife (Callisters) running the clinic have caused the death of her sister and the investigator's female colleague. There are scenes of the two protagonists and of the two antagonists getting it on, as well as a scene between Tanya and Mrs. Callister. Good story, good action-packed climax. Worth checking out.

Sheppard sex

I bought this video. There were many signs that pointed "Sins of Desire" in the direction of a satisfying B-movie experience. I saw a big UNRATED on the back of the video box. I also saw that the director's name was Jim Wynorski. UNRATED and Wynorski go hand in hand. The man is notorious for packing his movies with topless women. This was a film I needed to see. It starred Tanya Roberts and Delia Sheppard. One of these women would surely be getting topless. Most women don't get out of a Wynorski movie with their top on.

Well, the good news is that the Wynorski brand name of B-quality stands proud in this one. All of the women get topless! Tanya gets naked in a quick sex scene with her private detective buddy and Sheppard gets naked a bunch of times. Sheppard likes rough sex and I like rough Sheppard sex. We all win! Tanya gets a job at Sheppard's sex clinic. Instead of taking the time to learn from the master, she actually wants to shut Sheppard's place down. I couldn't believe it. Apparently Tanya was still sore that her sister killed herself after visiting the clinic. Other characters drift in and out of the story while Sheppard has some down and dirty loving with her husband.

"Sins of Desire" is a reasonable enough B-movie. It's nothing to write home about but you won't feel the need to kill yourself afterwards. The only thing that had me conflicted was the Sheppard/husband sex scenes. Her husband is played by the infamous Jay Richardson. Now Richardson is a pretty good actor and I've enjoyed seeing him in countless Wynorksi and Fred Olen Ray flicks but watching him have sex was kind of throwing me off my game. He's not what I would call a sex symbol. In fact, I feel pretty safe in saying that no one considers him a sex symbol. Fortunately Sheppard was into it. I guess that's all that really matters.

Sins of Desire delivers with Sex and Nudity from Tanya Roberts and Delia Sheppard

Jay Richardson & Delia Sheppard play crooked sex doctors at a clinic where rape and murder happen regularly. Tanya Roberts plays the sister of a girl who went to the clinic and wound up committing suicide because of her flashbacks to the sex she had with the doctor. She was not aware what he was doing. Tanya decides to get a job at the clinic. She was friends with a nurse who was leaving, so she takes her place. Delia and Jay have a kinky sex scene before she meets Tanya. Nick Casavetes plats a detective and talks with Tanya and tells her about a partner who was killed by the same people. Jan Michael Vincent gets a small role as a guy who has done dirty work for Jay in the past. Tanya is shown what goes on at the clinic. She sees how a guy is seduced by two women why Delia watches. Jay and Delia find out Nick is on their trail. They send Jan to kill him, but he fails and Jay kills him. Jay and Delia have another scorching love scene in front of the fire. Tanya puts on a skin tight black burglar outfit and looks for clues on her sister's death. She returns to a wounded Nick in her house and he thinks she told them about him. She starts crying and he decided she was not in on it. She tells him to spend the night on the couch. Next we flash to Tanya in bed wearing a small pair of panties and a top just long enough to cover to breasts. She has nightmares about her sister and Nick comes to the room. They start kissing and Tanya takes off her top and then the next shot shows her completely naked on top of him. The camera pans up and down her nude body as she kisses him. We get to see her ride on him from the front and back. Really nicely filmed love scene with a nice song in the background. The next day Tanya takes Nick to the clinic before it opens to find evidence. Tanya is forced to make love to Delia so Nick can escape. Delia takes off Tanya's clothes to reveal a sexy black catsuit Tanya is wearing. Nice kissing and some really nice shots of Tanya's body in the catsuit. She walks out of the clinic and looks rattled because of what she just did. She takes a long shower. No we don't get to see her in the shower. Nick found a therapy tape that ties Jay and Delia to the murders. They meet them out by the place they killed her sister. They end up knocking out Nick and her cop friend. Tanya ends up shooting Delia dead and running over Jay with a car. Not sure if Nick or the cop made it because the movie ends with her walking away after she runs over Jay. Solid effort from all around. Tanya Roberts was 38 at the time and still looked great totally nude!

The fat guy in the bed being teased by the 2 strippers was one of the crew. He might have been the transpo captain or coordinator. I forget. This was a fun little late night film. Worth every penny! The house was on a cliff in Malibu and provided a wonderful Clinic for the film. Tanya Roberts and Dalhia Shepard have a very hot scene that is worth watching just for the breasts. Jan Michael Vincent is perfectly cast. The story is pretty hokey, but that is not why we watched this film. The exploration of the clinic sets the scene for wacky antics and a sleuth story that Sherlock Holmes should look into. Unfortunately this did not make it to the theaters, and went directly from cable to video.
