Sex & Nudity

  • Two brief scenes with a man and a woman having consensual sex, with thrusting and sounds, no nudity.
  • Corpses of male soldiers stripped of their clothing are hauled in an open cart for a few minutes; full frontal and rear nudity.
  • A woman changes clothes in front of a window; breasts are briefly visible.
  • The breast of a woman nursing an infant is visible for a minute, drawing attention and comments from a man and a boy.
  • The camera follows a boy's gaze down a woman's blouse; a breast is dimly visible for a few seconds.

Violence & Gore

  • The film opens with one war, and closes with another. Men are shot and killed. Impact of bullets and blood spray is almost non-existent, but we see close up views of very gory wounds with copious blood on more than one occasion. Bloody corpses are piled in a cart and one is dragged along the ground.
  • Soldiers who have surrendered are lined up and murdered by firing squad.
  • A screaming man holds a woman down and implies he want to sexually assault her. A child becomes hysterical.
  • We see a man chop the foot off a dead cow, and later, the feet arranged as art. The cow's bloody corpse, with its hide removed, is seen for a while. We see a few paintings depicting cows with bullet holes dripping blood.
  • A cow gives birth. We see a man's arm in the cow, then outside of it covered in blood, and the young calf which is still wet. A cow poops, but we only see the feces pass through the camera view for an instant.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • No drugs. I don't recall any smoking or alcohol consumption.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Dangerous imitable behavior: men stand on logs barefoot, chopping with axes that repeatedly land inches from their toes. Other scenes depict dangerous uses of axes and a scythe.
  • A screaming man holds a woman down and implies he want to sexually assault her. A child becomes hysterical.
  • One jump scare when a dead man falls next to people.
  • Many scenes of imminent severe peril.
  • A couple of scenes where characters and the viewers are misled to think horrible events have occurred.
  • Young teen boys fire rifles preparing for war.
  • Many of the violent scenes are intense, particularly those related to the wars.
