A jumble of computery image stuff
AmberAlmighty25 November 2005
"Computer Dreams" is a jumble of computery image stuff from various parts of the world. Some lady wearing a business suit provides a commentary on the art of CGI, and names some names. The process of CG animation is not explicitly described, but the animation clips are diverse, some round and shiny, some textured and fluid. Some have audio, some just play under a short song. Some tell a story, some make no sense. It's really more of a montage than it is an educational program, but if you like that stuff...Uh...Well, I have a VHS copy. Recorded form TV. I think my dad recorded it before I was born, but still, it's interesting to watch. And at the end it has a music video with French-speaking robot aliens. Rock-rock on.

A fascinating look into the world of 80s computer animation
PastaMan6422 April 2018
Computer Dreams is a documentary on the computer animation of the 80s and I think the late 70s as well, but I'm not sure on that one.

Although it might come off as obsolete to watch now that we've come so far in technology from that of what is shown in this documentary, it's still worth watching. It gives some incredible insight into the world of computer generated imagery, and the potential that we saw in it back in the days of this documentary. It's an experience unlike any other and that - combined with great narration and a few other things - is why I rated this thing 8/10.

If you're sensetive and/or get scared by the primitive animation seen in the 1980s, then you perhaps shouldn't watch it, but if you're interested in this stuff or just curious, then go ahead and enjoy watching it! You can easily find it on YouTube through a simple search, so grab some popcorn and go watch it! Trust me, you won't regret it!

Documentary of the now obsolete computer graphics of the 1980s.

I remember being pretty impressed by some of the graphics in this documentary when it first aired in the 80s. Since it has almost all become obsolete this documentary is now a reference to that decades computer graphics.

I'd forgotten that computer generated imagery was so unaccepted at that time largely because it was very cheesy.

A facinating look into the CGI of old.
TheMasterofFPSs21 February 2004
This documentary is largely obsolete, since CGI is literally light-years ahead of what it used to be.

But in spite of that, this is a very interesting look into early CGI, and contains some pretty cool and facinating animations. I'd recommend to anyone interested in CGI or just plain cool and interesting animation.
