Sex & Nudity

  • None. There are two brief welcome home kisses and a couple of almost kisses that get interrupted in the wedding rehearsal.

Violence & Gore

  • There are two fights, one which leads to a death. It shows no blood though. This is quite mild by today's standards.
  • One person commits suicide by gun: we see him get a gun out, and then we hear the shot without seeing the weapon fire and without seeing the body or blood.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The people of that time always drank wine with meals and did so in the movie. There is a scene in a tavern where the 3 protagonists are scheming against Edmond Dante, and they are presumably drinking alcohol; although there is no drunkeness depicted.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man is arrested and held for years without a trial under distressing prison conditions (rats, roaches, filth, and solitary confinement). There is a distressing scene when he realizes he'll probably never leave the hellish prison, and he makes a blood-curdling scream. He plots revenge without mercy. One person commits suicide by gun: we see him get a gun out, and then we hear the shot without seeing the weapon fire and without seeing the body or blood.
