There was a similarity between events taking place in America and the UK around the time that Micheaux's films came out. There were riots in both the States and in Cardiff, Liverpool and Bristol as a protest against race relations. Films like 'The Millionaire' were definitely speaking to both a domestic and international community, but the question is, did his films fuel the situation or resolve it?
