Larry misdials the phone and reaches somebody he doesn't know that well who invites him to a party at his house on Saturday night. Cheryl says they were planning to eat out that night, and Larry says that they will just go out to eat and then go to the party, stay the minimally socially acceptable time, and then leave. The guy was a porn star in the 80s, but that was 15 years ago and Larry says it has no impact on the guy's life today - not exactly true.
This episode is reliant not so much on Larry having outsized reactions to situations as it is everybody else acting ridiculously in the face of Larry actually behaving reasonably. And remember Jeff's parents who got so offended at Larry's remarks when he was on speaker phone in the first episode? They're back and about to be reoffended.
