This was a sad and blatant attempt to profit from the success of Bridgerton, with anachronistic choices (mixed-race cast, contemporary music played in the classical style, modern costume choices). Don't blame the actors. The script was woefully missing lots of connective tissue. If you hadn't ready the book or seen one of the earlier film adaptations, I'd be surprised if you could follow the characters and complexity of the plot. It lost too much of what the author intended to convey about society in her day.
Mix up the cast. I'm good with that. But do something original in that vein. What Hallmark did has already been done by someone else. I'll go back to Hallmark copying Hallmark.
