It might be a dumb movie with a lot of stoner humor quotes, but also a super well made horror comedy about the struggle of making prog rock while being sieged by the most annoying neighbors imaginable.
The practical effects are crisp and will make any horror fan happy and the characters are fun, well acted and memorable, what more to ask for?
The score is not shabby either and it gives the visuals a callback but not 80's ripoff feeling while a good comedic timing makes the whole scenario work pretty well.
There is also one weird callback to Charles Laughton's "Night of the Hunter" out of nowhere.
