Warning: Spoilers
There were some aspects to this movie I really liked like the showing of the depth of the friendship before the three young kids are thrown into a hellish war together. It was a little jarring to hear everyone constantly talk over each other but it felt like a very natural small town vibe where three friends go off to war and it not only shows the impact on them but by those they left behind as well. Robert De Niro is great and so is Christopher Walken. I don't know how big a name those guys were before this but it's certainly something that could make them. The wedding felt too long though and the entire plot being more or less focused on Russian roulette was a bit disappointing to me. Once they shot their way out of one I figured that'd be it but Walken pretty much must have decided he wanted to die because he did it voluntarily after that. It was a sad movie and a bit too long and lacking something for me. It's worth the watch to see the two actors performances though.
