AKA is a French crime thriller that tells the familiar story of a special forces operative who finds himself going undercover on his toughest assignment yet: to track down and eliminate a suspected ISIS bomber planning carnage. This mid to low budget production has the usual dark and gritty look familiar to modern genre productions, but it manages to get by on the strength of well-shot action sequences and an engagingly tough lead character. It's the sort of film that parades the sight of former football megastar Eric Cantona as a bald crime boss and wears its influences on its sleeve, yet it still does the business.
