Detective work is a Job!
24 September 2023
I wonder if this is a more realistic portrait of detective work than most shows? It got me curious and it made me want to find a book written by an actual real detective. But like written by detective and not a journalist or fiction author.

Anyway, this series displayed detectives as workers. People with jobs. That this detective work is a job. And like jobs they are subject to lots of pressures.

There's the grueling nine to five. But then there's office politics, pressure from co-workers, the boss, journalists, the families who are victims, and in this show, there's pressure from political sources as well.

This show is about fighting to be an honorable detective despite all the pressures to not be from the outside world.

It's really sad that they can't just do their job without all these evil people getting in their way.

Probably detectives in real life have many of these pressures. I think that this is one of the few shows that makes this apparent.

The plot is interesting for this series and the main characters, the protagonists are likable.

I thought it dragged a bit in season one towards the end. I think it could have ended after twelve episodes and didn't need sixteen episodes.
