Anthony 'Pop' Wonder (Jimmy Durante) runs his Wonder Circus which is struggling to pay the bills. His gambling doesn't help. His daughter Kitty Wonder (Doris Day) is performing and organizing. Pop hires Sam Rawlins (Stephen Boyd) despite Kitty's reservations. It turns out that Sam is the son of rival John Noble who is looking to buy up Wonder Circus. Jumbo is the Wonders' beloved elephant.
The production is big. It has Durante and Doris Day. They are doing some song and dance. There is plenty of circus acts. There is a reasonable romance and a bit of light drama. It's all rather light weight. Nothing is too daring in this musical. The music is fine but nothing great. It got an Oscar nomination for Best Score. It's slightly above average at best.
