Jack Bernstein, the writer of this episode, is not one of my favorite writers working on "NCIS". I just haven't seen an episode from him that I have really enjoyed. "The Truth Is Out There" is sadly another average story by Bernstein. It's not a bad episode, it's just okay.
Let's start with the good.
. The production values of the episode are great. Liked the acting from the regulars, the direction and the music fits the scenery.
. The story, while not great, is mostly entertaining. The humor is solid for the most part.
But...
. Not all of the acting is agreed very good. Some guest stars come across a bit stiff. The dialogue is not always spot on and can feel wooden at times. The mystery is not particularly exciting either with too few suspects and a predictable murderer.
Overall, an average episode.
5/10 HK.
