2 August 2023
The time was 1978, I'd thirteen years old on TV was airing Me, Nathalie, I have to saw that found it a movie boring, now revisiting this lesser known picture on Youtube in tarnished image, just in English subtitled, I've changed my mind, a valuable picture on self-discovering process of ugly duckling.

The story about a suburban girl on Brooklyn that finds herself a ugly girl, since tender age Nathalie Miller (Patty Duke) has a lonesome living, when she grew up the things getting worst, soon became an eccentric girl, she had a special relationship with his bachelor uncle Harold (Martin Balsan) who aware her that essential she has an inner beauty instead external look, suddenly he appears with a gorgeous dancer, such choice contradicts Harold about inner beauty, displeasing Nathalie deeply, their parents pushing her to dating with teenagers boys, it didn't work out and she left his parents house to lives in a bohemian quarter at New York, in a cheapest room, she finds a unusual job at night club with weird outfits as waitress.

Soon Nathalie garnish her apartment with bizzare taste, also blend in at social life on free time with others persons, often feeling misplaced in such parties watered on so many boozes and also drugs, sudden she stumbles randomly with a mature painter David Harris (James Farentino) who lives on the floor bellow, he used to painting nude girls, bothering Nathalie for a while, soon somehow arises a mutual romance interest between them, what coming next??

Fine picture about how this girl look the world which will digging slowing and discovering herself her way, she actually is a virgin girl and is afraid to involve with somebody else, she has her freedom and want keep that way, this picture needs a utmost relevance at its period of time, a fantastic Patty Duke performance, who also made "The Valley of the Dolls" previously two years before.
