Snowbound (1948)
Gold Fever In The Alps

Warning: Spoilers
I think the spy guy pretending to write a screen play really should have been working on a fake screen play so as not to blow his cover. And the screen play should have been called "Abbott and Costello Meet The Abominable Snowman." They should have made the Nazi guy an Abbott and Costello fan. He could have kept pestering the spy guy about the screen play.

Nazi guy: Tell me, what's "Abbott and Costello Meet The Abominable Snowman" about?

Spy guy: It's about Bud and Lou meeting the abominable snowman.

Nazi guy: Is it funny?

Spy guy: Abbott and Costello are always funny when they meet a monster.

Nazi guy: That's why I like Abbott and Costello.

There's a lot of smoking and drinking in "Snowbound" as well as some skiing. The alpine shots are gorgeous. Most of the characters carry hand guns like it's an American film, but it's not. It's an English film. You can tell it's an English film because a dude hits a gong at the start of it. The reason so many characters have guns is cause they are after hidden gold and it's standard practice to carry a firearm when in pursuit of gold. That way if any disputes occur over the gold the disagreement can be settled quickly. A knife works pretty good too, as long as the person wielding it is skilled at throwing it.

Since this movie is about hidden gold there is a scene where some of the characters have to dig for it. Most movies about hidden gold have a dig-for-it scene. And often the diggers are doing it because they have a gun pointed at them (see Eli Wallach in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) None of the gold diggers are wearing gloves. I'm pretty sure they got blisters on their hands. So if you don't bring a gun when hunting for gold, bring some gloves.
