When I thought it was already cancelled, Black Mirror is finally back after many years. Finally. In this episode, Annie Murphy stars as Joan, an average woman who is very shocked to find out that her life is suddenly made into a TV series on a streaming site. Imagine that.
Joan Is Awful is an episode that shows the dangers of the internet. The internet and many apps/websites know so much about us because we are unsuspecting about the things we click. Many apps/sites can exploit us, so be careful and read the terms and conditions you guys lol :D
Salma Hayek and Annie Murphy are both great and there are some entertaining parts, particularly the scenes where she finds out about her life being turned into a series and also the church scene. While that is the case, the climax is really underwhelming and predictable. It just didn't do enough for me, you know what I mean? It left me feeling just a little bit dismayed.
While Joan Is Awful is quite entertaining and not really awful, it is definitely one of the weakest Black Mirror episodes I've seen.
