Starts great, then goes off the rails.

Warning: Spoilers
The lead is an alcoholic writer (Cogburn) whose book was claimed as the root cause of a mass shooting (by the shooter). 25 yrs later, he starts getting contacted by an obsessive fan. Great first act. Then it goes off the rails. If cogburn was drunk all the time, the second half would be somewhat remotely acceptable. However the movie makes a distinct point of when he's drunk and when he's not. If this movie took place in the 1970s, again, maybe..... remotely plausible. With our technology, none of the second half characters, female cop, inmate (that escapes) feds that show up after the escape, the whole restaurant scene, are all laughable. The end takes this train ride off the rails further and into a zoo of confusion and complete BS. When you steal a book for yourself, make sure the author is dead. "I thought you were dead" is a line from any daytime soap opera and all the avenger movies....
