Not much of a conosieur of modern animation or familiar with the series, I did find this one amusing, sophisticated, sardonic and without agenda. Wacky visuals abound with lots of farce, although a few of the more monstrous characters that pop in and out could possibly give little ones nightmares. This obviously was inspired by Grimm Fairy Tales with a modern twist as well as the classic Universal horror films. Even though I checked out the cast list, I found it hard to identify certain celebrity voices so they definitely got into character. The only issue I had with it was that some of the action goes way too fast and a few twists had me perplexed to follow the mystery of why the gardens are being destroyed.
