"...the dream of armistice is over"

I was pleasantly surprised by the first 3D Asterix adaptation, the art style converts across well, there's a nice chunky gravity to it all and this brisk adaptation doesn't hang around much. It's actually very watchable. The only downsides are not issues with the core film per se, but rather the British dub, which seems to have been awkwardly poured over a pre-existing Canadian dub. So you get "great talent" as Catherine Tate and Dick 'n Dom mugging it up alongside inexplicable Canadian folk. Jack Whitehall as a squawkingly posh Asterix feels totally wrong but Nick Frost is a fairly good shout for Obelix.
