An age old ceremony to bring back Vampire Duck, Count Duckula goes wrong, and he returns as a vegetarian. This series tells of the scrapes he and his servants Igor and Nanny get into.

Count Duckula took over where Danger Mouse left off, and just with that show, this has appeal for all ages, kids will of course love the wealth of characters and zany storylines, adults with apple the jokes and one liners, some definitely that would to over the heads of youngsters, and some of the quite macabre ideas.

For a kid's cartoon, there are some quite grizzly goings on, it's not classed as a comedy horror series for nothing.

Many episodes reference classic stories and fables, those are the ones I think work best, expect to see Jekyll and Hyde, Jack and The Beanstalk, and many more.

David Jason and co are fantastic, there's such a wealth to the accents.

I adore the three main characters, each provides the laughs, Nanny is outrageously funny. Whenever you hear 'I'll get it,' it's side splitting.

I'm surprised this show doesn't have more of a cult following, it seems to only be known by those of a certain age. To my mind it's never appeared on any platforms, and that's a shame.

A classic, 9/10.
