I found the bulk of murders and mystery solving from 1997-till the departure of Greg Nettles were highly entertaining especially episodes surrounding village superstitions, noble family feuds, etc...
Then until he became a father the second Barnaby has been dry and monotone... with a Perry Mason like ending with a monologue of the murderer and someone not truly in imminent danger with the "psychological" interaction. It's become dry , conventional and incredibly boring.
Even one episode based on a rabbit competition you'd think bring back the older feel but it was awful.
The added sexuality is more nauseating if anything.
