Vadhandhi - A Whodunnit that has its heart in the right place
2 December 2022
Vadhandhi premiering on Amazon Prime today is a murder mystery to begin with..but as the layers are peeled and we get to the very core we are left with a strange feeling of both euphoria and a sense of resignation to what our world is today.

Packed into 8 crisp episodes, special mention to the editing and photography team, this is one excellently packaged content that makes for compelling viewing..though the first 2 episodes are more the context and pace setters..they still take the story forward..but from then on the script gathers momentum..

The director has done complete justice to the tight script in how it has been conceived and translated on screen..the constant use of perspective shift very effectively keeps the viewers guessing and second guessing the characters' ulterior motive all through and still throws a sucker punch at the end that leaves one reeling

There is a message if you are interested to listen..IMO everyone should..but there is nothing cringy in the way it has been delivered..

The actors are all just right for their part..and they set the screen ablaze with their stellar performances..it all feels so real that you are constantly rooting for them and the justice they deserve or are fighting for..SJ Suryah, Sanjana, Nassar, Laila, Vivek Prasanna, Smruthi Venkat, Aruvi Balaji all have turned in some brilliant performances

Music is a definite plus and elevates the mood of the scene

And last but definitely not the least..kept reminders, decided to binge watch, planned the day in advance, all so I could watch the man Kumaran Thangarajan in action..and man what a performance..Vignesh will be yet another character that will leave an indelible mark on viewer's mind..again his voiceover needs a special mention..the slang rings so real and effortless..what can I say he arrived with a bang as Maaran, glued us to him as Kathir and 4 years down the line Vignesh is yet another reminder as to why we adore him..few scenes on repeat already

Overall a brilliant content that is definitely bingewatch worthy..

PS - A spinoff on the Velonie / Vignesh relationship (possibly a secret love) against the backdrop of another murder investigation by SI Vivek as a second season would be a thrill ride..would love to see these 2 beautiful characters come back to life again.
