Funny Lady an overlong musical extravaganza!!!
27 November 2022
After the successful "Funny Girl" made in 1968, might be expect a remake using the same premise with Streisand and Sharif, just adding the fresh James Caan in the role of the greedy promoter to Fanny Brice with the financial problem due her divorce of her charming prince who enchants for a richest high-class women, thus left behind a heartbroken Funny Brice who embrace the musical tour in order to forget the past.

Then came up an endless musical extravaganza surround the big star Fanny Brice, in a massive appearance, every song is sang by her, actually the whole score, overlong and sometimes even boring, Funny Brice married with his young promoter Billy Rose (James Caan) after successive attempts Fanny agrees, trying to eraser Nicky (Sharif) of his mind, sadly mistake, the new couple never reach in a fair agreement about the relationship, they living apart for a long distance, Funny at Los Angeles and Billy at Cleveland, promoting a new swimming pool show.

Perhaps this second attempt didn't work out because the movie lost his originality, the songs are often mournful and the chemistry between the main character is too cold, however Streisand in the peak of her beauty seem very sexy in some sequence, wasn't a stunning success nonetheless has their defenders.

Thanks for reading.
