The Munsters (2022)
A fun take on the best spooky family for a new generation!

Warning: Spoilers
A Halloween hit to watch I'll be watching every October along with the equally campy and delightful "Hocus Pocus", "Trick or Treat" or "Halloweentown"! I have been a Munsters fan since I was a teen, and I was so happy they finally got the big screen remake they've been long overdue for. I loved how this was not about the family just living together as other remakes have been; this was how Herman and Lily fell in love (relationship goals!).

Dan knocked it out of the ballpark as the Count (constant laughs out loud from me), Jeff is a genius in making the character his own while keeping Herman's goofy and innocent personality, and Sheri quite surprised me in how well she got Lily's mannerisms down (and I want her entire wardrobe). Everyone had fun in their roles from the looks of it, but it seemed Richard Brake and Dan did the most. Special mention to Zoya and Lester's actors too, I enjoyed them.

The plot is simple but it did have some twists I wasn't expecting (how Herman got his brain, where Spot came from, etc). I really liked that Lester and Igor got new development. And a Charlie cameo was appreciated. I'm confused where everyone has been saying the humor is bad and wondered if we watched different films; most of it is exactly what the original show had, but it has even more varied jokes now for a new audience, which I appreciated.

The soundtrack was quite good- ranging from classical music to technopop. I had never heard of Zeuss before but I'm a fan now.

If I had to change anything, it would be 1) make it slightly longer and 2) change just a couple lines that didn't seem to serve a purpose, like Lily and the Count saying they'd better go see what was outside, and the camera stays on them like there is going to be a joke but there isn't. Pretty minor nitpicks, though.

I feel bad for Addams fans, they just got stuck with "Wednesday"!
