Bart's selfish actions destroy their Christmas. When people believe that the Simpsons were robbed, they do an It's a Wonderful Life thing. Homer takes the money, buys a used car and drives it into a lake. When Bart's indiscretions are discovered, they become a pariah to the community and they want their money back. It's so dark.
