🏍 Ride On Marine ~ With💘~ From Tulsa °Good° °6.7°
8 August 2022
Sometimes, kids must raise🏗 parents. That's okay, as long as the parents, in need of same, let them. That's just the sort of 🌍 in which we live. We are all in this together.

Tulsa is low budget. It is heart warming, tho. In fact, given its budget and the positively Spartanish allotted 🎥 time of 20 days, it's an IA: Impressive🎖Accomplishment. What makes Tulsa truly impressive, is that it's based on {an amalgam} of true-life events.

Tulsa is the work of writer, director, and lead 🎭, Scott Pryor. It's his 3rd film. That's just a hobby, though. Litigator is his main gig. He's in the top 1% of America's trial attorneys💰, which is a testament to his capabilities. Seriously, one can't be that good without tightly managing presence, and connecting to a jury, at the very least. He says he wants to share his faith and goodwill with people, while he also shares some of the unbelievable things that he's seen and heard from his clients.

"The characters are fictionalized, and certainly parts of the story are fictionalized, but they were inspired by several conversations I had, and cases I worked on. They say truth is stranger than fiction, and if you were a fly on the wall for some of the calls I get and scenarios, situations and obstacles I see, it's all over the map. It's fertile ground for inspiration and really grounds you as a person."

Tulsa follows Tommy Colston (Pryor), a biker-addict-former-Marine who is being devoured by the quicksand of bitter experiences that have infected /him with bitterness. Self-inflicted damage and open wounds invariably follow. He runs a 🏍 repair shop which has been flirting with success & failure intermittently, for quite a 🕦. We meet him, and we meet social worker Jaylene, at the beginning of the movie. Tulsa takes place in a small community in which e'rbody went to high school together.

Tommy isn't in very good shape. Heck, he's marginally in acceptable shape. Jaylene has a little girl dropped onto her lap on a late, 🌞 and previously promising Friday afternoon.

Little girl, Tulsa, claims Tommy is her father.

Jaylene can't go home until she finds a placement for Tulsa, so she takes her right on over to Tommy's place.

'I'm❇ not ❇allowed to take her home. Let's just go with it for the weekend, Tommy. What are you afraid will happen to you?' Tommy has no knowledge of ever fathering a daughter. He does remember Tulsa's mom well, notwithstanding. Jaylene somehow talks him into letting Tulsa stay for a couple 📅.

Tulsa (Livi Birch), ends up ingratiating herself slowly into his life. She's sweet, but tough. She stands her ground. He will not get in the way of her faith, that's dang-diggity sure - Before passing on to Heaven, Tulsa's mother had developed a deep relationship with God. Tulsa is her mother's daughter. The film is about healing. It's about healing through helping others. It's also about faith~ a common thread for many people in recovery.

Livi Birch is arguably better than she has to be, as beau-dorable as she is. She really does a fantastic job. This film was made in 2020, and it was her first effort. IMDB has her on record for 11 additional credits already, including two episodes of Stranger Things in 2022. Clearly, you don't have to take my word for it. She's good. The rest of the acting is acceptable. It wouldn't be fair to blame that on the 🎭. Who knows what they could have accomplished with more than 20 days?

There's a scene in which Tulsa's visiting the 🏍 shop and getting to know the guyz. They're a bit on edge with a 🍭 little Christian girl in their midst. She's asking them uncomfortable questions. Cedric Greenway, as Tiny, has a 🕢. Tiny looks super (as they say on the plains) uncomfortable. It has very good (better?🤔) comedic effect. Tiny is funny😅. Per his resume, he hasn't been able to quit his day job. It's a shame, because he's very good in this, even though it probably is mostly 1st takes. Cedric! My man! Much💘!

I suppose one of the ❔ a reader might want answered is: What would a regular chap, who doesn't make an effort to seek out faith-based films, think of Tulsa? The best compact answer is: If you like Hallmark📽movies, you'll like Tulsa.

At 1st, not expecting much, I was of the opinion it's formulaic and sappy, forgetting the movie is based on real life. Truth is always stranger.. yada yada... They get a pass on that one. Tho tbr music is good, the soundtrack appears ultra low budget, at least per today's expensive standards. The editing is a little clunky. The 20 Day filming Time shows, tho 2 actors, palltry resumes aside, managed above average results.

"Tulsa," reached No. 2 on the Christian All-Time 🎟 Office for Self Distributed Movies, despite the pandemic's effect on the film industry, and the temporary closure of movie theatres.

"I believe everybody has a bit of a tortured soul this side of Heaven, and as a writer, I try to get to the emotions of each character and find their humanity," says Pryor.

Well, can I get an Amen?
