This series has a lot going for it: James May as the funny, sarcastic and personable host, Italy and all of its beauty, and awkward goodbyes that don't disappoint. Some of the situations they put him in aren't very funny or interesting like the Hobbit and canoe polo bits, but when he's able to be himself and see and do things that he seems interested in, it's good stuff. On a side note, I'm not sure if the producers or James did this purposely, but ghosts make an appearance on the show: one walking the streets of Pompeii and another at the lake in Episode 3.
