More Than The Mona Lisa And The Last Supper
1 May 2022
Carey Wilson narrates this short subject about Leonardo da Vinci: not the paintings, although they are mentioned at the beginning, but the inventions he came up with and recorded in his journals. We get the legends rather than facts, in no small part because the legends are more appealing.

Like many of the MGM shorts in this period, we get the performers acting in dumb show, while the narrator tells us what we are seeing. This type of narrated silent movie would continue through to the 1950s, when Pete Smith's shorts would use the same format.
