The one thing it isn't is funny, though the slivers of humor are kinda brilliant.
BUT! It is an easy watch. Nothing you'll take away from it or remember in a few days, but it's a movie to cleanse your mental palate.
Kurt Russell certainly isn't afraid not to be pretty!! And while the main character doesn't have the "looks" we would normally attribute to a person in his position, who cares!!!?? (Some reviewers mentioned his looks in a negative way. UNACCEPTABLE!) He plays an individual who is distanced from people, but that's kind of in his job description; and I think he is flat out brilliant given his past and where he wound up as an adult.
There are several story lines running through, of course - and all are tied up nicely at the end.
Frankly - the ending alone is worth the watch.
