Windfall (2022)
6/10

Warning: Spoilers
A drifter (Jason Segel) breaks into an isolated summer vacation mansion. He is surprised when its owners (Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons) show up. The situation simmers in a low grade kidnapping until the arrival of the gardener (Omar Leyva).

This is a Netflix thriller. It starts like a black comedy. The tone is oddly off. It's searching for the right tone like the Segel character trying to figure out what to do. It has a feel of hesitation with some sense of gallows humor. Then the movie takes a dark turn. There is no rooting interest in any of these characters and I do question the ending. I don't see the wife's logic unless the movie can do more than bickering in the first half. Nevertheless, it's interesting to see some of these actors stretching out a bit. This is almost like a play or a short story.
