Creepshow III
24 January 2022
The Creepshow franchise gives us five more tales in this lame and uninspired sequel to two very well done 80's horror films.

The first story (which felt like the wraparound story) is about a teenage girl who really hates her neighbourhood (she mist say it a dozen times). Her father presses a button on his new TV remote and the entire family disappears except her. When she leaves her house, she realizes that everyone in the world has seemingly gone missing. As soon as she steps back into her house, a new family is now there acting as if she is their daughter. This gag happens a few times before she eventually turns into a hideous monster. Didn't make a whole lot of sense and the whole production felt like a bad episode of "Are you Afraid of the Dark".

The next tale is about a shy security guard named Jerry who lives in a seedy building surrounded by prostitutes who constantly mock him. He buys a used radio from some homeless people. A voice in the radio starts talking to him, telling him to take better care of himself (i.e. Cleaning his house, cooking healthier, standing up for himself, etc). Eventually it talks him into killing people. Interesting little twist at the end of this one, better than the first story for sure.

The third one is called "Call Girl" and it's about a prostitute named Rachael who gets a call from a frat boy to come over for a night of fun. The thing about Rachael is that she is also a serial killer who murders her way through men. She may be in for more than she bargained for when it turns out the frat boy isn't all he appears to be. An ok story with a decent amount of gore. It was also well acted by Camille Lacey who played Rachael.

The fourth tale brings us back the professor from the first tale who is about to get married. After inviting two former students to his house, he introduces them to his wife to be which shocks them considering her extremely young age. They remember him mentioning wanting to work on some sort of project/experiment to create the perfect woman and start to believe that his bride to be is a robot. The boys go to extreme (and bloody) lengths to prove the theory. Meh.

The last tale is about an obnoxious pill popping doctor who works at a free clinic as part of a probation sentence. He treats all of his patients like trash, and we see him carelessly give out random prescriptions and bad advice to all that enter his office. After giving a homeless man a hot dog off of the streets which kills him, Dr. Farwell starts seeing the dead man everywhere. Very well acted by unknown actor Kris Allen, but overall a ok story due to sloppy writing.

I can't believe fans waited almost 20 years for a third Creepshow film, and this is what we got. An extremely disappointing low budget film that delivers no scares, no suspense, and no laughs. It really is a Creepshow sequel by name only.

3/10.
