Roy scheider, a couple years after the jaws franchise. Streep, in the prime of her career. She had just done kramer versus kramer. Scheider is rice, a psychiatrist, whose patient has recently been murdered. Bynum, the deceased, was found dead in a car. Brooke reynolds (meryl streep) is involved somehow. And now the cops are investigating. Jessica tandy, in a small role. Everyone is trying to figure who dunnit; brooke has a questionable history. Rice tries analyzing the patient's dream to look for clues. The cops don't have much to go on. We spend a lot of time at an auction, which doesn't really add much to the story, but it's pretty good tale. Directed by robert benton.. he sure worked on some biggies: bonnie and clyde, whats up doc, kramer versus kramer.
